Das Shizuoka Press and Broadcasting Center, gelegen im belebten Ginza-Viertel von Tokyo, ist ein bedeutendes architektonisches Werk des japanischen Meisters Kenzo Tange. Errichtet im Jahr 1967, markiert dieses Geb\u00e4ude die erste r\u00e4umliche Verwirklichung von Tanges Metabolistischen Ideen, die in den sp\u00e4ten 1950er Jahren entwickelt wurden. Metabolismus, eine Architektur- und Stadtplanungsbewegung, die nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg in Japan entstand, befasst sich mit Konzepten des organischen Wachstums und der regenerativen Entwicklungen in urbanen Umgebungen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Das Geb\u00e4ude nimmt eine vergleichsweise kleine, jedoch strategisch wichtige Fl\u00e4che von 189 Quadratmetern ein. Das schmale, dreieckige Grundst\u00fcck inspirierte Tange dazu, eine vertikale Struktur zu entwerfen, die aus einem zentralen Infrastrukturkern besteht. Dieser Kern, ein 7,7 Meter im Durchmesser messender Zylinder, der eine H\u00f6he von 57 Metern erreicht, beherbergt Treppen, zwei Aufz\u00fcge sowie K\u00fcchen- und Sanit\u00e4ranlagen auf jeder Etage.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Der Kern dient als Zugangsweg zu den modularen B\u00fcroeinheiten, die aus Glas und Stahl gefertigte K\u00e4sten sind und an alternierenden Seiten des Kerns herausragen. Diese modularen Einheiten sind jeweils 3,5 Meter breit und waren urspr\u00fcnglich so konzipiert, dass sie in der Lage sind, in einer Art urbaner Megastruktur, einem von Tanges Metabolisten-Kollegen Fumihiko Maki gepr\u00e4gten Konzept, zu wachsen. Die Idee war, dass neue Einheiten kontinuierlich \u201eeingesteckt\u201c werden k\u00f6nnten, was jedoch nie realisiert wurde. Bis heute ist die Anzahl der Module dieselbe wie bei der Errichtung im Jahr 1967.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Insgesamt sind dreizehn individuelle B\u00fcros in f\u00fcnf Gruppen zu zwei oder drei Modulen asymmetrisch um den zentralen Strahl angeordnet. Balkone, die sich zwischen den Clustern bilden, erm\u00f6glichen potentielle Erweiterungen f\u00fcr zuk\u00fcnftige Einheiten. Diese Struktur verk\u00f6rpert die utopischen Ideale des Metabolismus, der in der Nachkriegszeit Japans entstand, als das Land sich von der Zerst\u00f6rung erholte und einem raschen wirtschaftlichen Wachstum entgegensah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tange, der die Bewegung eher als Mentor denn als offizielles Mitglied unterst\u00fctzte, pr\u00e4sentierte die Konzepte des Metabolismus erstmals beim CIAM-Kongress 1959 und entwickelte sie sp\u00e4ter weiter, als er als Gastprofessor am MIT t\u00e4tig war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Obwohl viele der Metabolismus-Ideen theoretisch blieben, beeinflusste das Shizuoka Press and Broadcasting Center, \u00e4hnlich wie andere realisierte Projekte wie der Nakagin Capsule Tower, zahlreiche Architekten des 20.
